Faking It season 4 has been canceled
We monitor the news to keep you updated on the release date of Faking It season 4. Unfortunately, MTV has decided not to renew the series for another season. The show has been canceled.
About the show
A US teen romantic series airing on MTV, Faking It has originally premiered in 2011, while the third season premiered on March 15, 2016. The show's produced by Viacom Media, created by Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov, and developed and executive produced by Carter Covington.
The storyline of the series Faking It revolves around two best friends – Karma (Katie Stevens) and Amy (Rita Volk), who begin to pose as a lesbian couple in order to become popular among their peers. However, their true feelings interrupt their ostentatious game. The series also featured Gregg Sulkin, Michael J. Willett and Bailey Bewntein.
Sliding ratings and cancelation
Faking It premiered on the MTV channel in the United States on April 22, 2014, and fared very well in the ratings department in the first season, with just under 1 million viewers average per episode, and the beginning of the second season. It has, however, slid significantly afterwards, airing with viewership dropping as low as 280,000 for the third season premiere, never picking up again. These numbers apparently just didn't cut it, so the show was canceled by the MTV network. It is unfortunate to see a show that started off so strong last such a short time before going out with a bang. Perhaps the storyline lacked the necessary development, and despite tackling important social issues that resounded with the network's audience, did not take the plot far enough.
