Show’s background

Hell's Kitchen is a long-running, critically acclaimed and award-winning American reality television culinary competition show from the production studios Granada Entertainment, A. Smith & Co. Productions and Upper Ground Enterprises, which is at the moment broadcasting its fifteenth season on the FOX network in the United States. The Primetime Emmy nominated cooking competition series is based on the British series of the same name. Both shows were created by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay (Kitchen Nightmares, MasterChef, MasterChef Junior) who is becoming even more popular in the United States than he is in his native Great Britain. While Ramsay served as a head chef on the British show only in the first season, he has been the head chef on the American version of Hell’s Kitchen since it premiered on May 30, 2005.

Each season brings twelve to twenty aspiring chefs to Hell's Kitchen, a modified warehouse in Los Angeles that includes the restaurant, dual kitchen facilities and a dormitory where the chefs reside while on the show. The chefs are divided into two teams – red and blue. The chefs compete in these teams until only five or six chefs are left, after which they compete individually to be one of the final two. The winning chef receives two prizes including the opportunity to work as the head chef or executive chef at a restaurant of Ramsay's choosing, as well as a cash prize of $250,000.

Record ratings and early renewal

Season 15 of Hell’s Kitchen came out on FOX in the US on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT. Chef Gordon Ramsay is back to instill horror into the minds of competitors and only the strongest and skilled will survive. As usual, viewers can expect a lot of screaming, cursing and new and exciting challenges. At the end of season 13 of what is probably the most intense and brutal competition show on television today, FOX has officially announced that the program has been renewed for three more seasons up to season 16.
