Summary and storyline
Angie Tribeca is a new American comedy, parody and police satire television show that is broadcast on the TBS network in the United States. The new comedy series is a brainchild of the award-winning actor and producer Steve Carell (mostly known for his lead role in the cult comedy hit The Office) and his actress wife Nancy. They co-penned the script and also produced the series through their production company Carousel Television. The series debuted in the US on January 17, 2016.
Starring Rashida Jones as an LAPD detective, the new comedy series is a parody on police procedural drama shows. The cast also includes Hayes MacArthur, Jere Burns and Deon Cole.
Current season, ratings and renewal chances
Season 1 of Angie Tribeca came out in the US on the TBS channel on Sunday, January 17, 2016. The entire first season, consisting of 10 episodes, was broadcast over the course of two days – January 17th and 18th – as an unprecedented for the network commercial-free marathon. Even before the new show hit the small screen, it had been already renewed for a new round, or rather 10 more rounds. As the creative team explained, each of the following 10 seasons of the comedy series will only have one episode each, making them essentially the premieres and the finales all in one. Thus, starting on January 25, 2016, chapters 2 through 11 will be aired weekly, every Monday. So far, the reviews have been extremely mixed, very polar. Some appreciate the absurd nature of this slapstick comedy style, while others find it annoying and even repulsive.
