Storyline and cast

The Rap Game is the newest addition to the Lifetime’s winter original unscripted programming lineup. The new music and singing real life series is currently airing its debut season in the United States. The program is a creative collaboration between Flavor Unit Entertainment and Intuitive Entertainment, the production companies that have previously worked on such shows as The Queen Latifah Show, Let’s Stay Together, Girls Gone Bayou and King of Cones. Exec produced by Chris Deaux, Jermaine Dupri, Queen Latifah and Laura Fuest Silva, the new show was first released in the US on January 1, 2016.

Starring a successful music producer Jermaine Dupri, the new singing competition series features five young aspiring rap artists, ages 12 to 16, who are competing to win the coveted record contract with his company So So Def Recordings.

Ongoing season, reviews and ratings

Season 1 of The Rap Game came out in the US on the Lifetime cable network on Friday, January 1, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT and it will contain eight one-hour episodes. In the premiere episode, viewers get introduced to five young aspiring singers as they get to meet their mentor and potential future boss Jermaine Dupri. The special guests of the premiere episode included music stars T.I., for Da Brat and Bryan-Michael Cox. Future episodes of the current first cycle of the competition will also feature superstars Usher, Ludacris, Silento and many more. The genre of rap is as popular in the United States as ever, and this new reality program has an added bonus of inspiring young adults to follow their passions and dreams. The show is fun, entertaining, with a healthy dose of competition. We believe it has a good chance of getting renewed for another run.
