Basic info and storyline
Life Below Zero is an American adventure and survival real life and documentary television program that is at the moment being aired on the National Geographic Channel (NGC) in the United States. A critically acclaimed and highly rated series is a production of the Adjacent Productions studio. The program was first released in the US April 14, 2013.
This beautifully shot documentary series is set in one of the harshest environments on Earth – the state of Alaska. The program tells the stories of people who live in its most remote corners where every day is a fight to survive. With the temperatures almost always below zero, these people rely on hunting and on each other to survive. Yet, being so isolated from the rest of the world, this is where they feel the most alive.
Critical response and renewal hopes
Season 6 of Life Below Zero came out on the National Geographic Channel in the US on Thursday, November 24, 2015 but the total episode count has not been confirmed yet. The new chapter of the program started with the most anticipated period in Alaska – spring, when the residents have a brief window to make preparations for the next period of freeze, be it gathering, hunting or moving to a different location. In 2015 the program was nominated for 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards in the category “Outstanding Cinematography for Reality Programming”, and it is very well deserved indeed. One of the major praises that keeps coming up in many reviews is the stunning cinematography that continuously draws you in. The program has enjoyed extremely positive reviews from the very beginning. There is definitely a general sense of admiration for people who choose to live in Alaskan remote regions. It would definitely be great if the series got picked up for another run.
