Basic info and plot

Mom is a hit and critically acclaimed American family dramedy TV series that is presently airing on the CBS channel in the United States. The popular sitcom comes from the renowned producer and director Chuck Lorre whose other most notable projects include Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory. His production company is collaborating on the sitcom with Warner Bros. Television. The hit comedy show was first launched on CBS on September 23, 2013.

The plot of this widely critically acclaimed comedy centers on a daughter and mother duo, portrayed by Anna Faris and Allison Janney respectively, who are both recovering alcoholics and single mothers living together.

Season 3 of Mom came out on the CBS channel in the US on Thursday, November 5, 2015 and it will most likely consist of 22 episodes, just like the previous cycles. It is hard to pinpoint exactly why, but somehow the show manages to stand out in the sea of modern day sitcoms. The audience praised its refreshing humor that never crosses the line of feeling too crude and on-point casting. The ratings have mirrored viewers’ affection, and in the previous, second season, the series has averaged nearly 10 million viewers, delivering a staggering 32% growth. At the moment, the ratings are slightly lower, but we will need to see how they change as the series progresses to make any judgements. In any case, the sitcom has been a cash cow for the network, and there is no way it will get cut in the near future. Latest developments

UPDATED March 26, 2016: One in a mix-and-match assortment of 11 shows renewed early by CBS is Mom, which is currently airing its third season. The renewal was not necessarily expected, as the series is experiencing a serious decline in its viewership ratings – 7.9 million viewers compared to the previous season's 9.9 million, so the showrunners must be relieved to hear that they have another chance to develop the series further. Stay tuned for a release date announcement and other relevant information.

UPDATED September 12, 2016: As the CBS channel’s fall programming slate has been finally shaped up, TV fans are gearing up for what looks like a very exciting mix of returning hits and new shows. Although the sitcom Mom has lost 20% of its viewership in the most recent third chapter, the network’s execs have decided to give the comedy series another chance and greenlit it for one more run. A fourth installment of the Golden Globe nominee is slated to hit the small screen in the US on CBS on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT.
