Viewer reception and chances of renewal

Season 1 of Dr. Ken premiered on the ABC channel in the US on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 8:30pm ET/PT. Initially, season one was set to consist of 13 thirty-minute episodes, but on October 20, 2015, ABC ordered 9 additional episodes bringing the season total to 22 episodes. The decision to extend the episode count was driven by very good ratings of the first several episodes: Dr. Ken premiered with 6.7 million viewers, and although the ratings declined after a second episode, they held steady for episodes 3 and 4, which is a very good sign. So far, there have been no statements yet from ABC about a potential second season, so check back with us for the latest news, or subscribe to our notifications and get the premiere date of Dr. Ken season 2 automatically sent to your inbox as soon as it is announced.

UPDATED May 13, 2016: One of the lucky series to survive amid the recent cancelation bloodbath, ABC's comedy Dr. Ken has been renewed for a second season. The solid ratings and viewership have not left any room for doubt, as the numbers are the highest ABC has seen in three years. An excellent 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demo and an average of 6.4 million viewers per episode in Nielsen's L+7 are certainly a good enough reason to renew a series, so we welcome back the popular comedy.
