Storyline and cast

Rosewood is a new American police procedural and comedy-drama television series that is currently airing on the FOX channel in the United States. Rosewood was created by Todd Harthan who also serves as executive producer on the show alongside Richard Shepard, Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey. The crime drama series is produced for FOX by 20th Century Fox Television, Nickels Productions and Temple Hill Productions. Season 1 of Rosewood debuted on FOX on September 23, 2015.

The storyline of Rosewood is set in Miami and revolves around Dr. Beaumont Rosewood Jr. (played by Morris Chestnut) a sought out private pathologist. The series also stars Jaina Lee Ortiz, Gabrielle Dennis, Anna Konkle, Domenick Lombardozzi and Lorraine Toussaint.

Critical response and renewal hopes

Season 1 of Rosewood premiered on the FOX channel in the US on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 8pm ET/PT. Initially, the series was set to consist of 10 one-hour episodes. However, on October 8 it was reported that due to the high ratings, FOX has decided to order three more scripts for the show. The good news was trumped one week later when it was reported that FOX has placed a full season order, thus extending the total episode count to 22 episodes. The series premiere of Rosewood drew 7.5 million viewers, and although the ratings have declined a little since, the show is still currently averaging more than 6 million viewers per episode. Latest developments

UPDATED December 22, 2015: The first installment of the current season of FOX’s new crime drama series, consisting of 10 episodes, concluded on December 2, 2015. The show is now taking an extended holiday break. The remaining episodes of the debut season of Rosewood are scheduled to be back on the air on March 2, 2016. With the current average viewership of around 5.5 million people, the show will most likely secure another run. Stay tuned for the latest news.

UPDATED April 15, 2016: The FOX network has just renewed two of its newest scripted drama series for second rounds – Rosewood and Lucifer. With still a few episodes left to air before the season finale, Rosewood got an early renewal due to positive reviews from viewers and very solid ratings. The police procedural drama series is bringing in more than 6 million total viewers on average per episode. It has performed even better when it was the lead-in for the Fox’s highest-rated show, Empire, but the most recent numbers are still very satisfactory. UPDATED June 18, 2016: Fox has revealed its finalized fall programming schedule to the public, and it looks very exciting. The easy-going police procedural Rosewood, whose freshman season has definitely hit a chord with the audience, is scheduled to return with a second installment on a new night, on Thursday, September 22 at 8pm, to be followed by the series premiere of Pitch. Hopefully, the second chapter of the fan-favorite series will prove as enjoyable as the first installment in its genre cross-over between comedy and police drama. I love the show Rosewood and hope it renews. It is a different show and I love the cast.
