Series information and format
A 7-time Emmy Award-winning CBS veteran reality series Survivor has been on the air since 2000. It has been consistently rated as the most watched and most profitable show currently on television. The last completed 32nd season aired between February 17 and May 18, 2016 simultaneously on CBS and in Canada on Global, and airs in Australia on Go! on the day after the US premiere.
A group of previously unacquainted people are taken to an isolated location where they need to team up in order to obtain food, water, shelter and other necessities that they might require. There are various challenges, and participants are continually eliminated, while the Sole Survivor remains to receive a prize of a million dollars.
Upcoming seasons' details
The last season was set in Koh Rong in Cambodia, with three tribes – Brawn, Beauty and Brains of 6 people each. The series still maintained its high viewership numbers, having premiered to 8.3 million viewers, and bowed out with 9.54 million. Survivor is not losing any ground and is constantly finding new ways to add new twists and reinvent its concept. The series has already been renewed for two further seasons, 33 & 34, both set to be filmed on the Mamanuca islands in Fiji. Season 33, featuring all new players, has already gone into production, starting on the first week of April, and the filming of season 34 is about to start in early June. Season 34, in contrast, has cast all returning players. There is no doubt that Survivor will be produced for many years to come, so stay tuned for relevant updates.
