About the show
Blindspot is a new American thriller, mystery and crime-drama television series that is currently airing on the NBC channel in the United States. The new TV show was created by Martin Gero who also serves as executive producer on the show alongside Mark Pellington, Sarah Schechter, Martin Gero and Greg Berlanti. The show is produced for NBC by Berlanti Productions, Quinn's House and Warner Bros. Television. Season 1 of Blindspot debuted on NBC on September 21, 2015.
The storyline revolves around a mysterious woman covered in tattoos who was found inside a body bag in New York’s Times Square. Eventually, FBI finds out that each tattoo on her body is a clue to a crime they will have to investigate. Blindspot stars Jaimie Alexander, Sullivan Stapleton, Rob Brown, Audrey Esparza, Ashley Johnson, Ukweli Roach and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
Ongoing season and renewal predictions
Season 1 of Blindspot premiered on the NBC channel in the US on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT. So far, the reviews for the freshman series have been positive, noting the show’s intriguing suspense and good action. The series premiere episode attracted 10.6 million viewers, making Blindspot one of the most successful new scripted launches this season. After several episodes, the series is averaging 9.6 million viewers. In fact, NBC has already ordered 9 new scripts for Blindspot. Way ahead of the show’s season 1 finale, the network has officially renewed its hit freshman series for a second season. It was clearly an easy call for NBC, since Blindspot has garnered very positive reviews has been a ratings’ success as well. According to the most recent data, the series is averaging more than 12 million total viewers per episode, making it this fall’s #1 new show on television. Jaimie Alexander and Sullivan Stapleton are expected to reprise their roles in a new season. UPDATED December 15, 2015: Having aired the first ten episodes as of November 23, 2015, the NBC’s freshman mystery and thriller drama series Blindspot has bowed out for its two-month winter break. The network has revealed today that the series is scheduled to return to the small screen on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT with all new episodes. The total episode count in this first chapter of the crime drama series has been recently extended to 23, which means that, come February, fans will have 13 more episodes to enjoy until the debut season wraps up. The show is still delivering killer ratings, although at this point it doesn’t matter much since it has already been renewed for another run.
UPDATED June 16, 2016: This year, the NBC network it the first broadcasting company that has revealed its 2016 fall programming lineup. The fall premieres will kick off on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT with a sophomore season of the action drama Blindspot. It will be aired right after a two-hour season finale of America’s Got Talent. Although the debut installment’s ratings have declined by the finale, the show has still averaged just shy of 7 million viewers per episode, so the expectations for a second chapter are very high.
