Critical response and renewal hopes

Season 2 of Gotham premiered on the FOX channel in the US on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 8pm ET/PT. Amidst a few struggling shows on Fox last season, Gotham’s debut season did very well in the ratings department, having averaged 10.6 million total viewers per episode. In fact, episode 1 of season 1 became the highest-rated fall drama debut on FOX in 14 years. So, to no surprise, the show got an early renewal.
