Summary and storyline

Narcos is a new American crime drama television series that is currently available on the online on-demand media streaming service Netfli[. The new crime drama was created by Chris Brancato, Eric Newman and Carlo Bernard. Narcos is executive produced by Jose Padilha, Eric Newman (Children of Men), the team of Doug Miro and Carlos Bernard (Sorcerer’s Apprentice), and Chris Brancato. Season 1 of Narcos was released on Netflix on August 28, 2015.

In the new series, Brazil’s top film star Wagner Moura will bring back to life the charismatic trafficker and politician Pablo Escobar. Filming took place in Colombia. "Jose and Wagner together created one of the most sophisticated and chilling portraits of criminality and official corruption ever in their Elite Squad movies," said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos. "Their version of the Escobar saga will be like nothing ever seen before."

Season 1 of Narcos, consisting of 10 episodes, was released on Netflix in its entirety on Friday, August 28, 2015. Narcos stars Wagner Moura as Pablo Escobar, Pedro Pascal as Javier Pena, Manolo Cardona as Eduardo Mendoza, Boyd Holbrook as Steve Murphy, Mauricio Compte, Ana de la Reguera as Elisa, Stephanie Sigman as Valeria Velez, character based on Virginia Vallejo, and Joanna Christie as Connie Murphy. UPDATED June 13, 2016: Netflix has finally set the premiere date for a second chapter of its widely critically-acclaimed biographical crime drama series Narcos. A second season of the drama will be released online to the Netflix subscribers around the globe on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 12:01 AM PST. Just like the debut installment, the second one will have 10 episodes. Wagner Moura is back to reprise his role of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar, for which he was nominated for 2016 Golden Globe Award in the category “Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama”.
