About the show

Port Protection is a new American documentary and unscripted reality adventure television series that is at the moment being aired on National Geographic Channel in the United States. The new real life series was developed by Adjacent Productions, the production studio that has created NGC’s highly rated docu-series Life Below Zero. The adventure documentary program is executive produced by Kevin Tao Mohs and Jane Tranter. The debut chapter of the show was first released on NGC on July 19, 2015.

Port Protection is a real life unscripted program about people who have made a life altering decision to leave behind the comforts of normal life and have instead opted to start a new chapter, a very different and challenging one, in a remote Alaskan community. The storyline of this beautifully shot unscripted series is set in a remote cove located several miles from the northern tip of Prince of Wales Island which is not connected to any roads. Each episode of the program will tell unique stories of daily survival of these people and community, because in harsh Alaskan environment one cannot exist without the other. These people hunt, gather, fish, grow their own vegetables, cut trees for warmth, but for each success they put a portion back into the community: everyone gives and takes to keep things in balance and in harmony.

Season 1 of Port Protection premiered on National Geographic Channel in the US on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 10/9c, right after the premiere episode of Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks. In the first episode the show is introducing viewers to the new members of the local community and sets the tone for the remainder of the season. It seems that there can never be too many unscripted programs about life in Alaska – millions of viewers are simply fascinated with the subject. At the moment, there has been no word yet from NGC about the renewal of the program, so check back with us for the latest news, or subscribe to our notifications and get the premiere date of Port Protection season 2 automatically sent to your inbox as soon as it is officially announced.
