Summary and plot
I Am Jazz is a new American reality and documentary television series that is at the moment being aired on the TLC channel in the United States. The new real life show is produced by This Is Just a Test and executive produced by Aengus James and David St. John. It debuted on the TLC channel on July 15, 2015.
The new reality series chronicles the daily life of Jazz Jennings. Jazz is a transgender person: she was born a girl in a boy's body. From an early age Jazz has had symptoms of what later was diagnosed as a gender identity disorder. Her parents, Greg and Jeanette, argue that even at an early age their son was drawn to all the girly things. But after the celebrations in honor of his fifth birthday, when Jazz put on a maiden bathing suit, she began to live as a girl. And now, six years later, she began to blossom into a young woman. However, in reality, her struggle for social acceptance has just begun and there is a long and tough road ahead.
Current season, ratings and renewal chances
Season 1 of I Am Jazz premiered on the TLC channel in the US on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT and for now it is set to consist of 11 episodes. In the premiere episode, Jazz and her mom visit the doctor to discuss her hormone test results as they are worried about warding off male puberty. Now, this show is controversial because it raises a rather delicate and socially challenged subject. Viewers who enjoy it seem to be of more liberal views.
