About the series

Scream: The TV Series is a new American mystery, horror and crime drama television show that is shown on the MTV channel in the United States. The new series was developed by Jill Blotevogel, Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie based on the eponymous feature movie. A collaborative effort between MTV Production Development and Dimension TV, the new mystery drama first came out in the US on June 30, 2015.

The action takes place in a small provincial town called Lakewood. There used to be dark stories in the past in the area. However, despite this, nothing extraordinary happens here now, and the locals live a calm and slow-paced way of life. Then, one day, after a brutal murder occurs, fear settles in the hearts of the townspeople. Soon the shocking murders are repeated again and again. Sheriff attempts to curb the growing panic among the population. But it is not possible because everyone has long understood that this maniac is somehow connected with the mysterious events of the past, about which residents have long ceased to remember...

Current season, ratings and renewal chances

Season 1 of Scream debuted on the MTV channel in the US on June 30, 2015 and it is expected to consist of 10 episodes. So far, the first two episodes of season one averaged just a little under one million total viewers per episode. Let’s see how the ratings change as the season progresses.

Latest developments

UPDATED July 13, 2015: Great news! At the Comic-Con panel, MTV officially announced the renewal of Scream: The TV Series for a second season. The news has also been confirmed by executive producer of the series, Jaime Paglia, on his twitter page. Scream debuted on MTV on June 30, 2015 and so far it is averaging 0.92 million total viewers per episode. UPDATED March 12, 2016: The debut season of Scream: The TV Series concluded in the US back in September of 2015 and although we have known for a while that the show will be back, the MTV network has just unveiled the premiere date for a second installment. New episodes of the three time 2015 Teen Choice Awards nominee will hit the small screen on Tuesday, May 30, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT. What is even more exciting is that the network also revealed six new characters that will be joining the cast when the show returns. A new season will begin with Emma coming back to Lakewood having spent a few months getting over the Killer’s crimes at a retreat.
