Alone is a new American reality and adventure television series that is currently airing on the History channel in the United States. Alone is produced by Leftfield Pictures and executive produced by Russ McCarroll, Zachary Behr, Brent Montgomery, David George, Shawn Witt, Grant Kahler and Gretchen Palek. Season 1 of Alone premiered on History on June 18, 2015.
Alone is a new reality series in which 10 adventurers attempt to survive the wilderness of Vancouver Island with whatever they've been able to place into a backpack. The History channel describes their new series as one-of-a-kind and the longest survivalist experiment that has ever been recorded for a television audience. There will be no cameras or crew. The participants are placed in complete isolation, pitted against what is really the unknown. All 10 survivalists are considered hardcore specialists. They will all travel alone and at the end of it all, there is a grand prize of $500,000 to whoever is able to survive the longest.
Season 1 of Alone debuted on the History channel in the US on Thursday, June 18, 2015. It is set to consist of ten episodes. The premiere episode features 10 survivalists dealing with a lack of water and the island's large predators on day one of their long adventure. UPDATED August 20, 2015: Just one day before the season 1 finale of Alone (scheduled to air on the History channel on Thursday, August 20th, at 10pm ET/PT), the network officially announced the renewal of its hit freshman survivalist series for a second season. Tonight, the person who survives the longest in complete isolation in the harsh wilderness will receive a prize of $500,000. To date, the debut season of the reality series has been averaging 2.5 million total viewers per episode, making it one of the top three new nonfiction cable shows this year.
UPDATED March 24, 2016: It has been a long time since the History network announced the renewal of their thrilling new real life adventure television series Alone for a second season, and finally the release date has been revealed. The critically-acclaimed survival show will hit the small screen in the US on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT and will consist of 13 episodes. Ten new survivalists will be left to fend for themselves on northern Vancouver Island in British Columbia, and the one who lasts the longest will win a hefty grand prize of $500,000. The final episode of the first installment drew in almost 2.5 million viewers, and overall the new series became the network’s most-watched real life program last year.
