About the show

Mistresses is an American romantic drama television series that is currently airing on the ABC channel in the United States. The series was inspired by the British TV series of the same name which used to air on BBC One in the UK from January 2008 to August 2010. The American version was developed by K.J. Steinberg who also serves as executive producer alongside Rina Mimoun, Douglas Rae, Grant Scharbo and Robert M. Sertner. Mistresses is produced by ABC Studios, Ecosse Films, Bob Sertner Productions and Good Talk Productions. Season 1 of Mistresses premiered on ABC on June 3, 2013.

The plot of Mistresses revolves around the lives and loves of four female friends. The original main cast included Alyssa Milano, Rochelle Aytes, Yunjin Kim, Jes Macallan, Jason George, and Brett Tucker. With Milano leaving after season 2, Jennifer Esposito joined the series as the new co-lead.

Season 3 of Mistresses premiered on ABC in the US on June 18, 2015 and it is set to consist of 13 episodes. Season 2 of the series averaged 3.71 million viewers per episode which was almost the same as the debut season. For financial reasons, ABC decided to shoot season 3 not in Los Angeles, but in Vancouver, Canada and Alyssa Milano has left the cast because she was not willing to relocate with two small kids. Nonetheless, her departure from the show did not hurt the ratings and the premiere episode of season 3 drew in 3.79 million viewers.
