About the show

Tyrant is an American drama television series that is currently airing on the FX channel in the United States. The series was created by Gideon Raff and developed by Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning executive producer/showrunner Howard Gordon (24, Homeland) and Craig Wright. Tyrant is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios, FX Productions, Keshet Media Group and Teakwood Lane Productions. It is executive produced by Michael Lehmann, Avi Nir, Hugh Fitzpatrick, David Yates, Gideon Raff, Craig Wright, and Howard Gordon. Season 1 of Tyrant premiered on FX on June 24, 2014.

The storyline of Tyrant revolves around the youngest son of a dictator who returns to his war-torn country in the Middle-East with his American family. Tyrant stars Adam Rayner, Ashraf Barhom, Moran Atias, Jennifer Finnigan, Anne Winters, Noah Silver, Mehdi Dehbi, Alice Krige, Salim Daw, and Justin Kirk.

Season 2 of Tyrant premiered on the FX channel in the US on June 16, 2015 and it is set to consist of 13 episodes. The renewal for a second season by FX came as no surprise, because the ratings for Tyrant’s first season were incredibly consistent and high, averaging 1.55 million total viewers per episode. Shockingly, the premiere episode of season 2 only drew in 1.06 million viewers which is a 45% drop as compared to the last season’s average. Let’s hope that the situation improves as the season progresses. The production of Tyrant is fantastic. From the beginning opening score, the music sets the scene. I love the intro. The entire cast is terrific. The characters portray individuals that have their vulnerabilities and their demons. It is a power play between 2 brothers, which are 180 degrees apart. This is my favorite show on TV!
