Married at First Sight is a new Australian reality television series that is currently airing on the Nine Network in Australia. The Australian version of the show is based on a Danish format of the same name. The format has been sold to 15 countries, including Australia, Germany, France, USA and Belgium. The American version of Married at First Sight debuted in July 2014, and has just wrapped up its second season.
Married at First Sight (AU) premiered on the Nine Network May 18, 2015. The show is as much a social media experiment as it is a matchmaking show. It features four potential couples, vetted and paired up by three relationship experts. The first time they meet is at the altar to get married. After that, the show follows them for a month while they go on honeymoon, live together and meet each other’s respective families.

UPDATED December 23, 2015: The Australian version of the controversial dating and relationship reality series Married at First Sight debuted back in May on Nine and after just a few episodes the network officially renewed the reality series for a second run, we just learned. The main driver for the renewal decision was the fact that the series became the highest-rated broadcast in its time slot for the premiere episode, surpassing even the highly popular cooking competition show MasterChef.
