Series summary and cast

The Doctor Blake Mysteries is a critically-praised and award-winning Australian mystery-crime and period drama television series that is broadcast the ABC network in Australia. The hit series was created by George Adams (Mrs. Biggs, Australia on Trial) and Tony Wright (Hidden Universe 3D, Chris Humfrey's Wild Life). It is executive produced by Tony Wright, Carole Sklan (Hiding, Glitch) and Christopher Gist (Wastelander Panda, The Time of Our Lives), and produced by the December Media production company. Season 1 of The Doctor Blake Mysteries premiered on the ABC AU channel on February 1, 2013. The series also airs in the United Kingdom on BBC One and on selected Public Television (PBS) stations in the U.S.

The murder mystery series stars one of Australia’s favorite and most versatile actors (and a household name both in Australia and the U.K.), Craig McLachlan (Bugs, Neighbors, Született férjek), as the maverick country town Doctor Lucien Blake. A risk-taker, he’s impulsive and not afraid to upset the status quo. Doctor Blake returns home to Ballarat in the late 1950's to take over his late father's medical practice after being gone for thirty years. The period drama also stars Nadine Garner (City Homicide, Szörfsuli), Cate Wolfe (Predestination, Szerelmes Nina) and Joel Tobeck (The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King).

Stable viewership and hopeful renewal

Series 4 of The Doctor Blake Mysteries premiered in Australia on the ABC network on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 8:30pm and it consisted of eight episodes, with the final episode having been broadcast on March 25, 2016. Craig McLachlan and Nadine Garner reprised their lead roles and some new faces also joined the cast –Anna McGahan and Rodger Corser. The series continues delivering strong and stable ratings, and the most recent installment has averaged more than 1 million fans per episode, giving enough confidence to the network’s executives to move on with another round. UPDATED May 7, 2016: It has been just over a month since the most recent 8-part installment of the hit Australian murder mystery TV series The Doctor Blake Mysteries bowed out and the ABC AU network has just officially announced the renewal of the popular drama series for a fifth round. The good news was very much expected since the most recent series has become the highest-rated for the show so far, having averaged almost 1.7 million viewers per episode across multiple platforms, including iview. Craig McLachlan will be back to reprise his lead role when new episodes return to the small screen in 2017. We have been watching Dr. Blake on PBS LOS ANGELES, but we do not know which season is playing? Spring/Summer 2016

Why are the episodes of Dr Blake. Not sequence? I haven't seen all the shows from a season or two . they are mixed up and you for get which ones you saw..thanks for responding
