About the show

The Night Shift is an American medical drama series that is currently airing on the NBC channel. The series was created by Gabe Sachs (90210, Life As We Know It) and Jeff Judah (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) who also both serve as the executive producers for the medical drama show. The Night Shift is produced by the Sony Pictures Television company. Season 1 of The Night Shift premiered on May 27, 2014 on NBC.

The storyline of The Night Shift follows the daily lives of the employees at San Antonio Medical Center who work the most intense shift of the day – the late night shift in the ER. The series stars Eoin Macken (Centurion) as Dr. TC Callahan, Jill Flint (Garden State) as Dr. Jordan Alexander, Ken Leung (Rush Hour) as Dr. Topher Zia, Brendan Fehr (Guardians of the Galaxy) as Dr. Drew Alister, Daniella Alonso (Revolution) as Dr. Landry de la Cruz (season 1), Robert Bailey Jr. (From the Rough) as Dr. Paul Cummings, Jeananne Goossen (The Vow) as Dr. Krista Bell-Hart, J.R. Lemon (Shadow Love) as Kenny and Freddy Rodriguez (Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters) as Michael Ragosa. Even though on various review aggregate websites The Night Shift displays rather lukewarm reviews, the viewer ratings have been very stable and high throughout its first season and the beginning of season 2.

On July 1, 2014, NBC officially renewed The Night Shift for a second season, which premiered Monday, February 23, 2015 on the NBC channel.
